5th Grade Students: 5th graders are required to do a science fair project as part of their science grade. The 5th grade project MUST be in the form of an EXPERIMENT. 5th graders will work independently, not with partners. Each 5th grader will bring to school their own project display board and give an oral presentation to their class. Refer to the Science Fair Booklet (which will be provided to 5th graders) for more info. Additional / Extra information for 5th graders for their science experiment.
K-4 Students: All students, K-4 are encouraged to do a science project. With the exception of a few classes, participation is voluntary. (Check with your student’s teacher.) The project may be in the form of an experiment, model, collection, observation or invention. Please refer to the Science Fair Booklet for details on how to do a project.

The Fairlands Science fair was a great success! We had over 210 students participate by completing a science project. On Thursday, May 19th, many Fairlands families came to our family Science Fair Night.

 2011 Science Fair Dates...
The Fairlands Science Fair will be held May 16-20 in the MPR. Students will be able to walk through the exhibit with their class during the week. Once again, Fairlands will host a FAMILY NIGHT on Thursday, May 19th from 6-8, where all Fairlands' Families are invited to come and visit the exhibits in the MPR with lots of hands on surprises!

All Fairlands students are invited to participate in our own PTA’s Science Fair. Projects will be turned in to the MPR on Tuesday, May 17 for grades K-4 (5th grade teachers will request an earlier due date to allow time for in-class presentations.)
Science display boards are being sold AFTER school in the hallway between Rm 17 and the science lab until 3: 15 daily pending supplies. Cardboard: White-$ 3 / color-$4; Proboards (foam): white-$6 / color $7. Buy them early to get your desired type and color before supplies are gone.
