PTA UPDATES

Join our local community! At Fairlands School we are committed to the concept of
Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle. Ubokia is your opportunity to look around your
home or workplace and notice where you may have materials or items you are not
using that may be useful to Fairlands. In a time where resources are limited and
needs are great, we continue to look for ways to work with our community to ensure
each and every student is given all of the necessary tools, teaching, and support to
go Above and Beyond! Ubokia is a tool that will allow us to communicate our needs
to you. We invite you to come and Ubokia with us!

between Sacramento and Pleasanton Schools by providing financial support for
essential programs and services that are at risk of elimination

Wondering why we don't receive so many fliers in our Friday folders?  In an effort to
GO GREEN the district has begun posting local fliers to their website.  Sports
league information, organizations, Science, and academic club information can be
found here.  They have a separate page set up for other community interest issues
like health issues, free/reduced lunch, dress code, bike safety, etc found here.  For
organizations that may be local to Fairlands, we have created a Community Bulletin
Board to house cleared fliers. We will feature the page when new fliers get posted
in the Fairlands Flier Weekly e-mails.

  • Weekly Library Schedule
  • A / B week schedules
  • Six Flags Reminder: Six Flags Read to Succeed Student Reading Log are
due to your teacher no later than Friday, February 17.  NO LATE FORMS WILL
BE ACCEPTED!! A copy of this form was sent home with each student before
winter break, with specific instructions to discuss it with his/her parents.  If you
are unfamiliar with this program, it gives each child the opportunity to earn a
free ticket to Six Flags’ Discovery Kingdom.  The student simply needs to read
and record on the Student Reading Log six hours of at home reading.  The
form requires each student to add up total minutes read and a parent
signature to verify that the child has done reading.  Then, the student turns the
form into his/her teacher by Friday, February 17.  Each student can earn only
one ticket regardless of how many hours above six that s/he reads. The tickets
are distributed in May and are only valid from mid-June to early-August.
  • Young American Poetry Digest: Students currently have the opportunity
to participate in a poetry writing contest sponsored by The National Schools
Project. Your student(s) may submit an original poem of no more than 80
words to Mrs. Peterson by Wednesday, March 7.  These poems will be
forwarded to The National Schools Project for possible inclusion in the 2012
Young American Poetry Digest.  You will be contacted by mail sometime in
May if they would like to include your child(ren)’s poem.  The book is
    published in October.

  • LOST & FOUND ITEMS - please check the lost and found page to see if any of
the items listed belong to you.  They can be claimed at school in the lost and found
area.  Items not claimed, will be donated.

download, if you have a slow connection, please contact  Mrs. Davis for a CD.

providing financial support for essential programs and services that are at risk
    of elimination"

Allergy and asthma season is here! Please remember that schools cannot dispense
prescribed or over-the-counter medications (eye drops, antihistamines, etc.) without a
release from your child’s physician. Please do not send these items to school without
the proper paperwork. It is a good idea to have all of the necessary paperwork
completed before your student needs any allergy medication. Click on the links for the
district's policy about medications; the Medication Consent form; and the Medication
    Self-Carry form.
