CURRENT VOLUNTEER NEEDS

Thanks to all of our volunteers who do so much for our great school! There are
still a few open volunteer opportunities for committee chairperson positions.
Please see below for the details and descriptions of the positions, and sign up
by following the Jooners.com link below. Without a chairperson, these events
cannot happen at Fairlands this year. In many cases, we can use 2 or 3 co-
chairs for one event, so please, grab a friend and let’s get to work!
You do not need any prior PTA experience to chair a committee. You just
need interest and enthusiasm!

Open Chairperson Positions – Fairlands PTA 2011-2012
Family Heritage Night
- Plan, coordinate, and publicize our annual Family Heritage Night (formerly
known as Multicultural Night) in March.
- This event is a favorite of Fairlands families, with booths, crafts, food, and
kid-powered entertainment from many different cultures.
- This is a great opportunity for a few people to chair together, with one
person in charge of food, entertainment, booths, etc.
PPIE Ambassador
- Pleasanton Partnerships in Education is a non-profit organization
dedicated to supporting Pleasanton public schools. Each school in
Pleasanton provides a parent ambassador who is the main
communication link between PPIE and the school site/PTA. Ambassadors
attend PPIE meetings monthly and share information with the school and
PTA.
- PPIE is the organization responsible for the successful CORE campaign,
which secured the elementary library assistant and technology specialist
positions throughout the district.
Safety Team
- Work with Fairlands Principal Mrs. Michels to review and update the
school safety plan
- Assist in planning and executing a full safety drill this Spring
Science Fair
- Work with science teacher Mrs. Holder to plan, coordinate, and publicize
the annual Fairlands Science Fair. Like last year, the Science Fair will be
held on campus at Fairlands (not at the fairgrounds).
- Coordinate volunteers to assist with set up, evaluation, and exhibits.
