GREEN TEAM RECYCLING EFFORTS ARE UNDERWAY
TerraCycle: Juice Pouches and Glue Sticks Help our Green Team continue their amazing efforts to keep our school green and collect money for Green Team programs by bringing in your empty and dry juice pouches with straws removed and empty glue sticks. The Green Team is partnering with TerraCycle once again to help reduce the landfill waste while earning profits to support their educational programs. It is a win-win for everyone!
Where are collection areas located? Empty, dry juices pouches with straws removed will be collected by the lunch area. Empty glue sticks will be collected in each classroom (look for the yellow bags).
Recycling: Plastic CA-CRV Bottles & Aluminum Cans Bring your bulk CA-CRV items to school the 1st Wednesday of the month to the front of the school. Collection bins will be set up for your convenience. During school hours, children can continue their recycling efforts by putting their CA-CRV items and aluminum recyclable cans in the blue cans at lunchtime or inside the green square containers inside each classroom.

RECYCLE 1st WEDNESDAYS
|
Do you have garbage bags full of CRV plastic bottles and aluminum cans cluttering your garage because you just haven’t had time to go to the recycling center?
GREAT NEWS! Now you can clean up and help Fairlands Go Green!! Our school earns money by recycling all year long! Collection bins will be out every 1st Wednesday morning at the MPR, front office, and kindergarten area. Feel free to use the dumpsters on the side of the school on non collection days or encourage your kids to use the hallway or classroom receptacles located throughout the school.
Please note that we can only accept items marked with the CRV or CA cash refund label and they must be empty. All other items such as soup cans, yogurt cups, etc. should be recycled in your residential blue bin.
Thanks for your support and “Going Green!”

GO Green Library
|
On the literary front, we have some exciting new books available in the library! Thanks to an environmental grant from the city, we were able to purchase some great books to add to our Go Green collection. Mrs. Peterson has dedicated an entire section near the entrance of the library for books related to environmental awareness, and will be happy to help select ones that interest your children.
Furthermore, if your child finds some green inspiration from one of these titles, we would love to hear about it! Have him/her fill out a "Go Green Book Review" form. It may be selected for display on the Go Green Wall at school, and the reviewer will receive a special treat! A copy of the form can be found at the Go Green section in the library. Kids are free to decorate or color the page as well:)
Check out the latest arrivals in the GO GREEN Library!
